This is a monthly class for students 13 to Adult where we learn skills passed down from previous generations, sharing these skills is invaluable for the success of future generations! Everyone has skills they can share and we all get to learn together. Think homesteading skills, food swaps, cooking/baking cultural foods, sewing/mending....the ideas are endless! The goal is that we build a community around mutual learning and growing. If you have a skill to share, please let us know!

  • Let's Make Pie Crust + Chia Jam

    Ages: 13 to Adult

    Learn just how easy it is to make delicious homemade pie crust at home. We’ll talk about both savory and sweet options for pie crust and make a fresh strawberry rhubarb pie together. You’ll also learn how to make a simple chia jam with fresh or frozen berries that’s full of nutrients and less sugar than typical store bought options. You’ll leave equipped to turn your fresh berries into the most delicious pie and chia jam. 

    *students have the opportunity to taste fresh pie along with bring home a jar of chia jam and a recipe card

  • Let's Make Quick Pickles + Lacto-Fermentation

    Learn how to turn your fresh garden produce into delicious and nutritious pickles.  Pickling vegetables is a quick and easy way to save excess produce.  Not only are they good for our gut, they’re a delicious, tangy, crunchy addition to any meal and make everything from rice bowls to sandwiches more exciting. We’ll make a batch of quick cucumber pickles you can serve with dinner tonight and learn the basics of lacto-fermentation you can try at home. 

    *students will leave with a jar of quick pickles and a recipe card

  • Let's Make Elderberry Syrup + Fermented Lemon Honey

    Ages: 13 to Adult

    Learn the basics of making elderberry syrup and Fermented Lemon Honey at home to have on hand for winter wellness. Both of these traditional recipes offer wellness support from the whole family. Made with easy to find herbs, spices and ingredients you often have in your pantry, they're packed with nutrients to support your overall wellness throughout the cold winter months. 

    *students will bring home a pint jar each of elderberry syrup and Fermented Honey and a recipe card.
